Fried Orange Juice Tofu

Something about the fall season seems to offer renewed energy. I took a walk down to my grocery store with my new toque on and was inspired to make something with oranges for dinner.

I decided to do fried tofu over teriyaki mashed potatoes. Here’s what I used:

      • 2 Fresh Oranges
      • 1/2 block of firm tofu
      • 3 tbsp olive oil
      • 1 tsp agave nector
      • 1/2 cup flour

First I marinated the tofu (sliced) in the juice of 1.5 oranges (I saved the rest for garnish) for about 2 hours. Then I dropped it in some flour until it was completely covered:


I then dropped it into a non-stick pan that I had heated on med/high heat. The tofu heated really quickly and I got that delicious deep fried ‘skin’ pretty quickly. I also added a little bit of the orange juice into the pan.

I then put the tofu in a serving bowl with what was left of the orange juice, a tiny bit of agave nector (just to give it that sort of thick taste), slices of orange, with green onions on the side.
